2025 Moving Forwards with LAMP Words for Life - Online course 

 This additional 4 - hour online training session will move beyond the basics of the LAMP therapeutic approach and cover additional information for LAMP practitioners.

Lunch break - 30 min

Part 2 -  1.00 pm - 3.00 pm

Completion of the ATANZ 6-week Online LAMP Words for Life & the LAMP therapy approach course or earlier completed LAMP training is a prerequisite for this additional session

About this event: 

This session will cover additional skills and strategies needed to implement and support LAMP WFL successfully. This includes:

• Tips for successful initial implementation of LAMP
• Implementing and supporting LAMP with children and young people with additional behavioural and sensory challenges 
• Supporting communication partners using a coaching approach
• Implementing LAMP in the classroom.

There will also be some time to cover any other issues that you have been struggling with as a LAMP practitioner. Numbers will be capped at 35, and the workshop will not be recorded.

About the presenter: 

Sam Brydon is a speech language therapist with 30 years of experience in the field of disability, including as a social worker. Sam originally trained and worked in England, before emigrating to Aotearoa in 2007. She has since worked for the Ministry of Education, Patricia Avenue Specialist School, and currently for The TalkLink Trust. She completed doctoral research at Massey University in the field of AAC in 2023. Sam first discovered LAMP when she was reading and researching for her PhD. She attended the first training in Aotearoa in 2019 and has since implemented and supported LAMP with many children and young people with diverse communication needs and has been excited to observe how successful this approach can be with children who have previously struggled to use AAC. Sam currently works part time for the TalkLink Trust.

This workshop is for all people including speech language therapists, teachers, teacher aides and parents working with autistic children with diverse communication needs who have completed the '2025 Online LAMP Words for Life & the LAMP therapy approach' course.

Costs: 

• $ 145 for ATANZ members
